Thanks for visiting my UCLA web page. I departed Los Angeles on April 8, 2006, spent one year at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, and now reside at the University of British Columbia. Feel free to browse through the information I have posted on this site using the links along the left column, although you should note that much of it is out-of-date. Please contact me at the above address or e-mail me if you need more information.

I am a graduate of the Geophysics and Space Physics program of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at UCLA. My primary research interest is the formation and dynamical evolution of the Earth and planets. Motivated by a variety of interesting observations, I am particularly interested in pursuing a multi-disciplinary approach grounded in dynamics and material physics to build bridges between the diverse sub-disciplines that exist in the Earth sciences. Recent projects I have worked on include the geodynamics of partially molten regions of Earth's mantle and its influence in Earth's geochemical evolution, the relationship between tectonic activity and volcanism produced by buoyant melting in the asthenosphere, the origin of seismic heterogeneity in Earth's deep interior, and development of direct constraints upon the nature and magnitude of deep Earth heat flow along with its relation to Earth evolution and the dynamics of both the mantle and core. Current efforts include the study of magma chamber processes in the crust in relation to the chemistry and dynamics of volcanic systems, and extension of results from studies of Earth's interior to other terrestrial planets such as Venus and Mars.
